Avram Grant’s spell as the head coach of the Ghanaian national football team might be reaching it’s end on February 5 of 2017 which is the date when the upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finalizes.
England youth player Joe Dodoo opted to play for the Black Stars of Ghana, ignoring the English national team.
He joined the training camp of Ghana in the country’s capital despite concerns over his eligibility, according to local reports. The Leicester City attacker's decision to play for his country was surprising as he has played for the England youth team.
Ghana manager Avram Grant says that he should receive a lot of credit for rebuilding the national team in a short span of time.
The former Chelsea manager took over as the national team boss of the African nation after the World Cup 2014, which had just ended as a major disaster. Grant has done reasonably well at his previous clubs like Chelsea, Portsmouth, and West Ham. However, the 61-year-old feels that he has never received proper credit for the work.
Ghana have been in fine form since Avram Grant became the manager in 2014.
However, the national team has been involved in a number of draws over the last few games and this has not been good enough for the temperament of Grant. The former Chelsea boss claimed that his team were looking for a win but were disappointed to get only a 0-0 draw against Mozambique in the Africa cup of nations qualifiers. Even though Ghana remain in a strong position for qualification, a victory would have put them beyond the reach of teams like Mauritius and Rwanda.
The Ghana association is not too amused by the fact that the head coach of the senior team, Avram Grant, is not monitoring the games of country’s top flight domestic competition and is instead focussing on his media assignments in England.
According to one of the senior officials of the association, it has been strictly conveyed to Grant that he is being expected to come back as soon as possible.
Avram Grant is the head coach of the Ghana national football team and he has his work cut out for him as there are a number of important games that are lying ahead of him and of his team which will be decisive in whether or not the Ghana national side is able to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana’s national team boss Avram Grant believes that the media are not helping Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho with their numerous stories about being poor.
Ghana’s national team coach Avram Grant says that the national team is extremely lucky to have a player like Daniel Amartey. The young defender has recently shone during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
One of the primary reasons forAmartey impressing everyone is his versatile nature according to Grant. The recent African nations cup qualifier against Mauritius witnessedAmartey being utilised in a right back position instead of his preferred centre back position. However, many were left impressed with the wayAmartey adapted to this new way of playing.
