GYAN WILL RETURN

New Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has said that he is extremely positive that Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan will return to playing international football in the near future.

Asamoah Gyan announced that he was taking an indefinite break from international football after suffering the abuse of fans following his missed penalty in the African cup of nations.

GHANA WANT TO PERFORM

Ghana will be looking to perform well in the next African cup of nations, which will be switching to odd years from next edition onwards.

Hence, the African cup of nations that was said to be held in 2014 will now be held in 2013. Libya is one of the contenders for hosting this prestigious African competition.

Ghana have always been regarded as one of the top teams in Africa mainly because of the presence of players like Michael Essien and so on. However, without the presence of a number of stars at the 2012 African cup of nations, Ghana failed to live up to the expectations.

The hectic schedule of the international and club football as well as fan abuse has taken another victim in the form of Asamoah Gyan, the striker for the Ghana National Football Team, who has announced his retirement from the international scene.

The 26 year old striker, who currently plays in the United Arab Emirates with Al Ain, on loan from the English Premier Club Sunderland Association Football Club sent an e-mail regarding his unavailability for international selection to the Ghana Football Association or the GFA and this, was confirmed by the officials late on Saturday evening.
