Christian Atsu, a Ghana winger, is one of the many who are missing after the earthquakes hit Syria and Turkey. It happened on 6th February 2023 and people are still recovering from damages that the earthquakes have caused. Some teammates of Christian have been found but the 31-year-old winger is still missing.
Atsu had been part of the Magpies team which has won promotion back to the Premier League. It happened in 2017 when Atsu joined the team on a loan from Chelsea for a season. However the move, later on, became a permanent one.
Fans and supporters have been posting on social media for his safe return. People are also conveying their heartfelt messages to the other survivors. Atsu had made several significant contributions such as the score he made which helped his club make win 1-0 over Kasimpasa. It was during the summer of 2021 and he has made a total of 121 club appearances to date.
The earthquake that hit the southeastern part of Turkey was 7.8 in magnitude. It also affected northern Syria during the early hours of the morning after which there was a second quake of 7.5 magnitudes. Till now 1700 have been found dead. Several rescue teams are working to find survivors. Atsu had played for five seasons with Newcastle. After that, he left to play in Saudi Arabia in the year 2021.
