According to the reports, Thomas Tuchel has made it to the six-man shortlist of Ghana to become their new boss. It can be a surprising new development for the ex-Chelsea manager after being sacked in September 2022 after a start to the Premier League. The Ghana team is lining up replacements for Otto Addo as he stepped in when the team was unsuccessful in making it to the knockout rounds of the World Cup.
Houghton has a Ghanaian father. He has been working as the technical advisor of the Black Star for the last 10 months. Another member of the setup of Ghana, George Boateng, might also be in the running. Former Middlesbrough and Aston Villa midfielder Boateng had been disappointed as the assistant of Addo in May, just 2month after defeating Nigeria in the World Cup play-off matches.
Now, Tuchel is joining the duo, Paulo Bento-the former manager of South Korea, Dragan Stojkovic- the Serbia boss, and Tom Saintfiet- the Gambia gaffer. The German manager would be a surprising appointment, particularly taking into account his links to the role of England in case Southgate steps down.
According to a report by The Telegraph, Tuchel had been asked to leave by the UK by December 3rd end since his post-Brexit visa will meet the criteria no longer. Borussia Dortmund and PSG bosses are also believed to be patiently waiting for the appropriate role to return to management.
