Alhaji Karim Grusah is of the opinion that James Kwesi Appiah should not be allowed to continue as the head coach of Ghana. The national team has recently picked up successes against South Africa and Sao Tome. These games marked the beginning of the Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign. Ghana are in the group containing South Africa, Sudan, and Sao Tome. The excellent start to the qualification campaign should not deter the FA from seeking a replacement forKwesi Appiah, according toAlhaji Karim Grusah. He says that the two victories will only paper the cracks and that the manager is not good enough to lead the team in the finals.
Ghana’s problem has always been performing well in the actual tournament. The national team has not been successful in the Africa Cup of Nations since 1982 when they won the last of their four trophies.Kwesi Appiah will remain in charge of the team until December with his contract still in place. In fact, Ghana Football Association (GFA) are also looking at a contract extension but none has been officially conveyed to the manager. If a contract extension is not offered, Ghana could be heading into the game against Sudan with a new coach. The next qualifier is only in August 2020.
