Avram Grant Branded as Lazy by Former GFA Chairman

Ghana coach Avram Grant has been criticised as being a lazy person by none other than a former chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe.

The scathing attack from the former chairman comes at a time when the national team has been going through a terrible run of form. After having won against Mauritius in the African cup of Nations qualification back in June, the national team has gone through four matches without a victory. The running includes a narrow loss against Russia with the remaining three ending as a disappointing draw.

Avram Grant Branded as Lazy by Former GFA Chairman

The scathing attack from the former chairman comes at a time when the national team has been going through a terrible run of form. After having won against Mauritius in the African cup of Nations qualification back in June, the national team has gone through four matches without a victory. The running includes a narrow loss against Russia with the remaining three ending as a disappointing draw.

As a result, there is a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Grant, although he remains one of the most successful managers Ghana has had in recent times. Statistically, few managers have managed to take the national team into the final of the African cup of nations. Just like in many other finals he has lost, Grant ended up losing the prestigious African title as well. The form is a major concern for the national team at a time when the World Cup qualification is just about to begin. Egypt will be the first opponent for Ghana in the World Cup qualification, which begins in November. However, this will be the only match for the national team before qualification resumes in August 2017.

“I have been saying for more than a year that he is a lazy person. If you look carefully at his demeanor, he is a very lazy person. I have not seen a Black Stars coach who stays in Europe and come down when he wishes. He has nothing to offer us. Our performance under him has been abysmal. He is a useless coach,” saidDr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe. Grant has been criticised from various quarters for his tactical predictability and unwillingness to reside in Ghana.

Ghana’s national team boss Avram Grant believes that the media are not helping

Ghana’s national team boss Avram Grant believes that the media are not helping Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho with their numerous stories about being poor.

Mourinho is under intense pressure to turn around the fortunes of the club, which won the league title only seven months ago. However, the club has fallen to an extent where they are now in a relegation battle with the season almost at Christmas. This has led to fears that Chelsea may finally lose patience with the manager, who has given the club the most success. Mourinho still enjoys a lot of popularity amongst Chelsea fans despite the poor form.

This certainly was not the case whenGrant was manager of the club. Even though Chelsea lost the league title only on goal difference to Manchester United and went on to get defeated in the Champions League on penalties,Grant was never popular at Stamford Bridge. Now the manager of Ghana, the Israeli says that Mourinho does not become a bad manager overnight. Instead, the club should give him an opportunity to at least turnaround the situation. Chelsea, though, will be very concerned about the lack of Champions League football league season. The blues have done very poor only in the league, whereas they have topped their Champions League group.

“It is not easy, but I think Jose deserves a chance. I didn’t like when they made him the genius, and I don’t like what they are doing to Jose now, saying ‘He is useless’ or something. It is not like this, it is too extreme. He is a good coach but, like any other person, he is facing tough times. He needs to show he can handle pressure but don’t judge him only by the quality of his interviews when he is under pressure. He is a good coach, a nice guy, and he can get out of it, for sure,” said Grant.
