While it's not always certain that a good player will be able to make an instant hit or impact after leaving a particular club and League for another, it is rather becoming a regularity to see even great players fail to live up to expectations. This has been the case of Ghanaian international midfielder Thomas Partey since arriving at Arsenal from Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid last summer.
The combative midfielder decided to quit Spain and left the Rojiblancos in favor of a move to the English Premier League to join Arsenal. After completing the transfer to the Emirates club last summer, the hopes of Arsenal fans rose very high. They thought they had completed a marquee signing and could not wait to see him start his career at the club.
During the first few weeks he spent in London, Partey immediately became a fans' favorite at the Emirates and had his name sung on every Arsenal fan's lips. But he has not had the fair share of luck in his short Gunners career so far, having suffered a couple of injuries that have drained him of confidence and form. He has been restricted to just a few games for Arsenal this season and has also missed some of their last crucial matches as well.
When he joined, his manager Mikel Arteta claimed that the club had signed a really great player who would make a huge statement in the Premier League, but unfortunately, that has not been the case. While the player is said to be working hard enough to make a return from his niggling injury worries, he has also come under criticism for when he has participated on the pitch.
But Arteta has commended the former Atletico Madrid man, insisting that he's doing his best to return to the pitch and also added that he will be fresh ahead of next season.
