A Ghanaian KwesiNyantakyi is now the second most powerful figure in African football, according to latest reports. Nyantakyi is the president of the Ghana Football Association.
Nyantakyi is now the first vice president of CAF after the committee approved his appointment. The committee would continue to make more appointments but Mr Constant Omari from Congo is the 2nd vice president.
Nyantakyi is the first Ghana top football official to get this type of honour – rising to the second highest spot in African football. He was recently re-elected into the FIFA Executive Committee.
The Professional Footballers’ Association of Ghana has hailed his appointment. They went online to send congratulatory messages to him as he ascends a new level in continental football. The whole delegation from the West African side in Bahrain – the site for CAF’s congress – were happy that their man received such honours.
The vice president George Afriyie, the acting general secretary Alex Asante and executive committee member Frank Nelson were in attendance at the congress as the current CAF president Dr Ahmad handpicked the Ghanaian as his right hand man.
The picture of the delegation as they hailed Nyantakyi circulated quickly in the social media space in Ghana. The whole football community over there were happy as they see it as a step forward.
