The Ghana FA has been at the forefront of organising several coaching courses across the country and it is taking in effect on the domestic league according to national team manager Kwesi Appiah.
He has said that the quality of the Ghana Premier league has increased substantially over the last few years. Caf has also been assisting the Ghana FA in this department. They recently relocated four slots belonging to Ghana at the inter-club competitions in Africa. Ghana is currently rated as the second best team in Africa.
The nation contributed as much as 18 players for the recent Under-20 World Cup. The Black satellites team finished third in this competition, which was held in Turkey. Appiah recently got his Caf license A certificate. He was not the only one to receive this prestigious certificate, as he was joined by 43 others as well. In a recent radio interview, Appiah praised the approach of the Ghana FA by saying that these courses have improved the quality of the coaches in the nation. This is having a trickle effect on the league as a whole.
Ghana have been one of the dominant teams in Africa over the last decade. They have produced extraordinary players like Michael Essien during this period.
“If you look at previous seasons and compare it to last season and this season, there has been a vast improvement and for me I believe that it all boil down to these courses we are doing. I think it’s been really beneficial, in the sense that you meet so many coaches who are knowledgeable and the sort of ideas and views we pick from each other during that period are helpful,” said Appiah. Ghana has so far done well in the recent World Cup qualifying matches. Their next match will be against Zambia.
