Rumours continue to swirl around the future ofJames Kwesi Appiah, who has made it clear that he will not be in charge of the Ghanaian national team forever. The coach has had a massive at various levels of the national team. He has now confirmed that a good replacement should be identified for his services. The manager was speaking to the press just before holding the first training session for the Black Stars. The national team prepares to take on South Africa and São Tomé e Príncipe in back-to-back games. Ghana are aiming to pick up their first victory since July when they beat Guinea-Bissau with a 2-0 score.
The team failed to qualify for the African Nations 2018 in Morocco while they could record only a round of 16 place in the 2019 African Cup of Nations. Since hitting the heights of a second place finish in 2010 and 2015, Ghana have had a significant decline. Crucially, the team failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
“Me one day I won't coach the national team again but we should all sit back and ask ourselves who will replace some of us if we should stop coaching or leave this team. Who have we prepared to step in when some of us leave the scene we should have other capable options who we can consider due to their experience with the national team. It should not just be about just a handful of people we can fall one when we need a coach,” said Kwesi Appiah.
