Ghana have decided to bring back Kwesi Appiah as the coach of the national team.
The possibility of returning to the national team has once again appealed to the manager, who has returned to the role. This time around, he will be looking to avoid any off the field issues that plagued the club during the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. It was one of the key reasons behind Ghana failing to make any impact in Brazil.
The immediate task for Appiah will be to get the club on a winning run of form. After having lost three out of their last four games in all competitions, Ghana will be taking on Ethiopia in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in June.
Appiah will also be looking to reach a second consecutive World Cup. The team has only managed a single point from the opening two matches in the World Cup qualification. As a result, they have already slipped to 5 points behind Egypt, who lead the group E. With competition from the likes of Congo and Uganda still alive, Ghana face a tough possibility with regards to reaching the World Cup finals in 2018. The World Cup 2018 will be held in Russia.
