Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew has said that he is not concerned by the recent goalscoring drought with the Eagles. The Ghana international joined the Eagles on a season-long loan from Swansea City during the summer and he has since started seven of the club’s league matches with Christian Benteke on the sidelines with an injury.
Speaking to Premier League productions, Ayew insisted that he is unperturbed by his failure to contribute to the scoresheet for the south London outfit and he will keep working hard in order to translate his good performances in the form of goals, he said: “I believe in myself and have support from the club, players and gaffer as well.
“The most important thing for me is to keep working hard and, hopefully, the goals will come. I know I’ll score so I’m not worried at all. I work hard and my performances have been good but I have not been decisive and they [the club] brought me here to score. I’ll keep working and I know I need to score goals and make things happen.”
“Ayew has been a regular leading the line for the Eagles this campaign “ but he has managed just one clean sheet for his efforts in the Premier League. However, he has found success with the national team of late after bagging a brace during the recent 2-0 triumph over Ethiopia and hopefully that can provide him with the confidence to impress for the Eagles “during the festive period “.
Palace have not made the best of starts to the season and they are currently just one point ahead of the drop zone after the opening 12 matches. Their next challenge comes against Manchester United on the road and the game could be a tough one for them, irrespective of the Red Devils’ average defensive record during the ongoing campaign.
