The Black Stars of Ghana are on the path of redemptionahead oftheir third game in Group G of the African section for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Ghanaiansplay hosts to the Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in Cape Coast for their third Group G outing.
Ghana would be hoping to bounce back when they take on Zimbabwe at home in the first of their two Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. In their last World Cup qualifier, they were beaten 1-0 by hosts South Africa and that defeat handed the initiative to the South Africans in their group. South Africa replaced Ghana at the top of Group G courtesy the goal from Bongokhule Hlongwane seven minutes from time.
The Ghanaians began their World Cup qualifying campaign with a slender win over Ethiopia. Mubarak Wakaso scored with ten minutes left to play in the first half as Ghana beat the Ethiopians 1-0 at home. The Ethiopia clash preceded the South Africa clash and the two games was played last month.
On their part, 1996 African Cup of Nation (AFCON) tournament winners South Africa started their own World Cup qualifying campaign with a goalless draw at the home of Zimbabwe. The South Africans picked up their first win of the season by beating Ghana at home and they can preserve their spot at the summit when they play hosts Ethiopia in their next game.
South Africa lead the way in Group G with four points from two games, while Ghana are in second place with three points from two games ahead of the latest set of games this weekend.
