Ghana lost to Ivory Coast in the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations during a penalty shoot-out which resulted with a scoreboard of 8-9.
Even though his team lost, Avram Grant stated that he was happy to see his team performing the way they did during the tournament and it was actually the better squad which lost.
The former Chelsea manager Avram Grant said: "We did great things and I'm happy with my team but with penalties, these things happen. We were the better side tonight, but we lost. However, we can be proud of ourselves."
This finals match between Ghana and Ivory Coast was played on February 8 of the current year and a number of things have been going on involving Avram Grant’s squad with their most recent news is regarding an investigation that the head of the Ghana Football Association wants to be done.
KwesiNyantakyi is the president of the GFA and he has said that there were allegations regarding players of the national team that were rumored to have made bets on their own team to lose.
These rumors of corruption and things of that nature is something that has been affecting African football as they are constantly being linked with negative effects which have hampered the progression of their development.
Even with the recent allegations of the Ghana national players and the rumors of making bets not in favor of their own teams, Avram Grant has admitted in saying that he will not leave the Ghana national side even though he was linked with a potential technical director position with South Africa.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) a few days ago stated that they were in search of a technical director and by July 1, things are expected to be settled. Avram Grant was one of the top candidates on being selected for this position but it does not seem like it’s going to happen as the spokesman of the Ghana Football Association stated that they will resist any temptation on allowing Avram Grant to leave his managerial position in Ghana.
