Serie A side Fiorentina have confirmed the recruitment of Kevin-Prince Boateng from Sassuolo on a two-year deal. The former Ghana international spent the second half of the previous campaign with Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga and he has now decided to ply his trade for another new club in the form of La Viola in the Serie A.
Boateng has been regularly swapping clubs during the backend of his professional career but last season’s loan move to Barcelona came out of the blue. The 32-year-old made the switch to the Camp Nou from Sassuolo knowing that gametime was not assured and that remained the case as he managed just four appearances across all competitions.
Nonetheless, he was afforded with the chance to win a league title with one of the world’s most elite clubs and that appears to have triggered the move to Fiorentina, who had a forgettable 2018/19 season in the Serie A. The Florence club have generally tended to compete at the top end of the standings but last term was an exception as they just about scrapped through a relegation battle. Fiorentina start their new league campaign with a tough-looking home game against Napoli.
