Ghana’s national football team player, Christian Atsu, who had been reported missing in Turkiye in the massive earthquake’s aftermath, which hit the Middle East nation had been discovered inside the rubble.
The player from Hatayspor and the sports director of the club, TanerSavut had been reported as missing after staff members and club members had been pulled out of the rubble after the earthquake.Atsu has been a part of Newcastle for 5 seasons since he arrived in 2016 from Chelsea. While he was part of Newcastle, he assisted the club in regaining their status in the Premier League. He is based out of Antakya, a city placed in the southern Hatay province of Turkey, not really far away from the Syrian border.
Before the earthquake, Atsu participated in the match by entering as a substitute. He scored the winning goal against Kasimpara on the home ground. The next day the earthquake hit Syria and Turkey. One earthquake was followed by the other.
Thousands of people died in the earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey. Many buildings have been brought down to rubble in these countries. The death toll has been depressing. Many were trapped beneath the crumbled building debris for days on the end. Since this disaster happened, many organizations and nations have offered their help with rescue operations in southeast Turkey and northwest Syria.
