Carlos Carvalhal Ready To Welcome ‘One Of The Best Attackers’ In The Premier League

published by content on Wed, 05/16/2018 - 06:07

Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal is pleased that the club can welcome Jordan Ayew back into the starting line-up after serving the final game of his three-match suspension. The Ghana international received his marching order during the 0-0 stalemate against Huddersfield Town last month, and since then, the Swans have gone through a period of 340 minutes, where they have scored a single league goal.

Speaking ahead of the Everton game, he said: “We are very happy that Jordan can play because he is one of the best attacking players in the Premier League right now. He’s a very important player to us and he makes a massive difference when he plays. He thinks different than others. Jordan is a player with pace and he’s a player that keeps the ball very well. He’s a player that’s very good one-to-one.Losing a player like this does make a massive difference. The three games without him, of course, we’ve missed him.”

Meanwhile, the Swans boss has also backed Tammy Abraham to come good for the club during the final stages of the campaign. The on-loan Chelsea striker has impressed in recent outings for Swansea against Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion, and he happened to score a late equaliser versus the latter last weekend.

Swansea are currently four points ahead of the drop zone with just six games remaining in the season, and Carvalhal will hope that the team can capitalise on their home fixtures – starting with the one against Everton this weekend. Following the game, they have a couple of difficult fixtures versus Manchester City and Chelsea, but their destiny appears in their own hands as theyhost relegation candidates Southampton and Stoke City in the final two matches of the campaign. Despite the positives, Swansea won’t be able to bank on the services of Wilfried Bony and Leroy Fer who have been ruled out with season-ending injuries.
