Ghana's national team, the Black Stars who would be facing Uganda in their opening World Cup Qualifiers today being Friday, arrived in Tamale on Wednesday morning so as to settle in fully before the match
The team had begun training together on Tuesday morning in the country's capital, Accra before moving onto Tamale where they continued to train in readiness for the match.
Grant had invited 23 players to join the squad in the match against the Cranes and all twenty three of them had showed up. Adam Kwarasey, Thomas Partey and Jeff Schlupp had missed the first day of training after having arrived overnight on Tuesday from their different bases in Europe. They however were present with the team in Tamale.
On arrival at the airport on Wednesday, AsamoahGyan, the team's captain and Emmanuel Alleman Badu, the stand-in deputy captain led the players in prayers. Gyan who had recently returned from injury was quite convincing on his excellent form during training on Tuesday.
The team was welcomed by the Northern Region FA chairman Abu Abdullahiand other top executives. The locals who were on motorbikes escorted the team from the airport to their base, thereby creating a pleasant atmosphere around the team.
Grant had to readjust his programme so as to allow the players rest at afternoon. Training was pushed forward to commence by 4pm at the Tamale Sport Stadium.
Friday would see the Black Stars of Ghana clash with the Cranes of Uganda in their opening Group E World Cup Qualifiers.
