published by content on Sun, 08/06/2017 - 06:36

As a way to incentivize the growth of football talent in Ghana, the global online gambling company, Betway has recently kicked off a talent search project which was held at the Essikado Park, Takoradi which is in the western region of Ghana.

This talent search event had over 300 aspiring professional footballers in attendance as they attempted to display their skills with hope of joining a professional club and taking their game to the next level.

Stephen Appiah is the head coach of the Ghanaian national football team and he was also selected as the main figure behind this talent search as he was talking to all the attendees, giving them tips and coordinating everything.

¨Ghana has a lot of football talents, with most of them coming from poor backgrounds and cannot afford to join soccer academies. A project like this gives aspiring footballers the opportunity to exhibit their talents and make it to the top¨ Appiah said.

This scouting project began on July 11 of 2017 with Essikado Park in Takoradi being the place where it took place but this program will be extended through different regions. The Eastern region of Ghana in Koforidua is the next place where it´s going to be held on July 15 and lastly it will be in the Ashanti Region on July 29.

The football scout is focused on players between the age of 18 and 25. It was announced that over 300 aspiring footballers arrived but that only 16 of them were actually selected by the technical team which is being guided by Stephen Appiah.

As the event continues to roll on with the other scheduled dates and places, more footballers are expected to be selected.
