After a lot of speculation about his future, Avram Grant finally decided to step down from his role as the Ghana manager after a disappointing 2017 African Cup of Nations.
Just when it seemed that Ghana would at least secure a third place finish, they were left even more disappointed after a 1-0 loss against Burkina Faso. As a result, the national team finished fourth in the competition. Grant claimed that it was the best possible time to go on separate ways, although he insisted that the separation was only on the mutual basis.
The West African nation recently said that the two year contract for the Israeli coach would not be renewed in the face of the recent poor form. Ghana will be hoping to appoint a successor before June when they take on Ethiopia in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“After an extremely amicable meeting with the president of Ghana FA, and following more than two successful years in charge of the national team, I've informed Mr Nyantakyi that time is right for me to move on to a new challenge and I thank him for the opportunity.
