Avram Grant to Explain Provisional Squad List to Ghana FA

published by content on Sun, 01/22/2017 - 06:16

Ghana coach Avram Grant has come under fire of late due to poor run of form, which has left the team in major doubt of doing well at the 2017 African Cup of Nations.

As the tournament fast approaches, it is understood that Grant will be holding discussions with the management committee in order to decide the squad for the upcoming tournament and also to agree upon the preparations. The Ghana FA have requestedGrant to fly down from the United Kingdom in order to hold this meeting.

The former Chelsea and West Ham United manager recently announced his provisional squad list for the tournament, but he will have to explain his selection to the Ghana FA in order to go ahead. It is understood that the Ghana FA are not happy with the promotional squad list announced by the manager. Hence, he is having to explain his selection process in person.

Even then, there is expected to be some scrutiny session done before the final squad is announced. There is likely to be interference from the Ghana FA in order to include some players into the squad. Ghana have been extremely disappointing in recent matches and they have not won in the last five games.

Their most recent encounter was a 2-0 loss against Egypt in a World Cup qualifying match. As a result, the national team is in a disappointing stage even when it comes to qualification for the World Cup 2018. They will be up against Ghana, Mali, and Egypt in the African Cup of Nations just in the group stages alone. Following the recent victory, Egypt are likely to be highly confident coming into the match.Grant had recently threatened a number of the underperforming stars that they would not be includedin the squad if they did not improve their performances.
