Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given an update on the thigh injury sustained by Ghana national team star Thomas Partey at the start of last month. The Ghana international sustained the injury during the disappointing 3-0 loss at Crystal Palace in the first game back for the Gunners in the Premier League after the last international break.
Despite the update from Arteta on the injury to Partey, a lot of the Arsenal fans are optimistic that the former Atletico Madrid player will feature for the team again before the season ends this month.
Partey is seen as a key player for Arsenal and they struggled to cope with his latest injury setback for a while before things stabilised in the middle of the park for the Gunners thanks in part to the introduction of experienced Egyptian midfielder Mohamed ElNeny.
Partey has missed the last six Arsenal games in the league and the Gunners have four more games left to play before the season comes to an end. Arteta brought young Belgian midfielder Albert SambiLokonga into his starting XI to replace the injured Partey, but the move didn’t really work as it led to defeats against Brighton and Hove Albion &Southampton thus making it three league defeats on the bounce. ElNeny was introduced afterwards and the Gunners have won all their games since then.
