A few weeks ago it was announced and confirmed to the public that James Kwesi Appiah would not be coaching the Ghana national football team after being in charge of the national squad for 2 years.
"The Ghana Football Association (GFA) wishes to thank Mr. Appiah for his diligent service to the country as the coach of the Black Stars for the past two years," the Ghanaian FA said in a statement.
Ghana was placed in Group C during the 2014 World Cup and failed to win a single match as they lost against United States and Portugal while only managed to pick up a draw with Germany.
Earlier in October, the Ghana Football Association announced that they have shortlisted a list of 5 coaches that are being taken into consideration for the managerial position of the national squad.
The list includes: Avram Grant, Juan Ignacio Martinez, Michel Pont, Marco Tardellin and Patrick Kluivert. All of these coaches have experience managing a club or a national squad. Grant used to coach Chelsea, Martinez is the former coach of Valladolid, Pont is a former assistant coach of Switzerland, Tardellin is a former coach of the Egyptian national team and Kluivert is the former assistant manager of Netherlands.
The Ghana Football Association considers experience to be one of the most important factors in naming their next manager for the national side. Those names that were listed are just some of the managers that are being taken into consideration but the managerial position of Ghana has already attracted the interest of 32 other managers which have already applied for the job.
The former coach of Real Madrid, Bernd Schuster is one of the latest managers that have been added to the shortlist of the Ghana Football Association as they are keeping their opened for any potential manager that have the necessary abilities needed to guide the Ghana national squad to success.
