The Ghana manager Kwesi Appiah has said that he is extremely happy with the preparation of a team so far, while he thinks that they have enough fitness in order to do well at the 2013 African cup of nations. Ghana will be coming into the tournament as one of the underdogs due to their recent failings at the tournament.
Ghana currently in Abu Dhabi for the preparations and they recently completed the fifth training session. Appiah has confirmed that all the 24 members of the squad took part in the fitness preparations, which also included tactical work as well.
The preparations for the 2013 African cup of nations started in the Gulf region on Saturday. Appiah has said that he is extremely happy with the way the players have trained in these last few days. The manager, though, has confirmed that the players are yet to reach the peak fitness levels. He wants them to do the same before the squad departs for South Africa to take part in the competition. Aside from the training and fitness regime, the team will also be taking part in two friendly matches before the tournament. They will be playing against Tunisia and Egypt at this location before they depart to South Africa.
"I am very happy with how all the players have trained since we arrived here on Saturday morning. Training has been tough but very good for the players as I want to achieve some fitness level before we depart to South Africa," said the Ghana coach. The opening match of the team at the African cup of nations will be against Congo. After that, they will be playing in the group matches against Mali and Niger in the group matches before their fate of progression into the next round is decided.
